With just a handful of finalists left on this year’s “American Idol”, could flamboyant favorite Adam Lambert become the first gay or bisexual winner of the hit talent show?

“Some people are saying, wouldn’t it be amazing that in the same year that the first African-American president took office in the U.S., we also elected the first gay and/or bisexual ‘American Idol’,” Robert Thompson, professor of popular culture at Syracuse University in New York told Reuters.
“I don’t think that’s comparable. Rather than being surprised, I am thinking ‘Wow, have we really got this far without having one yet?,’” he said.

The talented 27-year-old has never openly discussed his sexual orientation, though he declared “I have nothing to hide. I am who I am,” after pictures of him dressed in drag and kissing other men circulated on the internet last month.

Whether his sexuality matters or not to voters, one thing that’s undisputed is Lambert’s extraordinary talent, having already won a rare standing ovation from Mr. Nasty himself, Simon Cowell, after his cover of “Mad World” by Tears for Fears last month.

Commenting on the new format of the show, watched by an average of 26.3 million viewers every week, Lambert said, “I think it gives America the chance to pull who they really want.”

Lambert’s daring performances, described as “confusing, shocking, over the top, theatrical” by judge Kara DioGuardi, coupled with his refusal to deny his sexuality have already made him a less ambiguous figure to fans than 2003 runner-up Clay Aiken, who didn’t talk publicly about being gay until 2008.

Already renowned for his phenomenal vocal range and audacious performances if hits including “Believe” by Cher, Lambert says if he wins, “I hope to be a role model for maybe that kid who…doesn’t fit the mold.”

High School Musical’ star Vanessa Hudgens is believed to have told her boyfriend and co-star Zac Efron that she wants to date other men.

Hudgens, 20, who met her 21-year-old beau while on the show, was reportedly livid after she learnt that Efron did not want to get married until he turned 40, reports the China Daily.

Now, in order to make him jealous, the actress has decided to see other people.

“When Vanessa heard about Zac’’s plan to stay single for the next couple of decades she was shocked and shattered. She”d secretly hoped for an engagement ring within the next year or two!” a source told the National Enquirer magazine.

Hudgens had decided on the freedom to date other guys after she had a talk with her friends.

“Zac’’s totally upset - he doesn”t want Vanessa dating anyone else. Even though he’’s not ready to commit himself to settling down at this stage of his young life, the thought of Vanessa in another man’’s arms drives him crazy,” the source added.

It’s official! Vanessa Hudgens has a new man in her life.

Yes, she’s still dating Zac Efron, but I can exclusively reveal that 19-year-old British actor Alex Pettyfer has been cast to star opposite Hudgens in Beastly, a modern retelling of Beauty and the Beast, for CBS Films.

Directed by Daniel Barnz, Beastly is based on Alex Flinn’s novel of the same name. Shooting begins this summer in Montreal.

A child model turned actor, Pettyfer’s credits include Wild Child opposite Emma Roberts and Stormbreaker.

High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgens has just reached a settlement with her former music producer regarding the 2008 breach-of-contract lawsuit she got involved in.  It was a quick court conflict for the star, since the dispute was settled even before the case was set to go to trial.

The plaintiff, Johnny Vieira and his Johnny on the Spot Productions, said last Friday that the two sides had at last come to an “amicable resolution.”  It was back in November last year that he accused Hudgens and her father of backing out of a deal that she signed as a minor.  Apparently, they owed him at least $5 million in proceeds for helping Hudgens rise to fame.

While details of the agreement were not released, the High School Musical star’s agent said in a statement that they were all pleased at how things turned out.  Hudgens’ attorneys declared: “My client appreciates Mr. Vieira’s efforts early in her recording career.  We’re glad to be able to resolve the issues in a mutally agreeable fashion.”

Last year, the judge set a May 11, 2009 trial date for the lawsuit.  Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Malcolm Mackey was told that the Hudgens weren’t interested in mediation, but would like to take it to court instead.  However, the defendants said they were open to the idea of future mediation.

Thanks to that, the High School Musical starlet and her former record producer have produced an agreement beneficial to both parties.  It looks like Vanessa Hudgens won’t have to worry about that anymore.

Even so, she has her boyfriend Zac Efron to think about.  Things aren’t going too well for the young Hollywood couple, ever since she heard the news that he didn’t want to get married until he was 40.  According to the National Enquirer, she retaliated and said she wanted to date other men.

Cocktail waitress/actress Scheana Marie may have once had a shot at something with John Mayer, but not anymore.

Marie, 23, says in a new interview that the singer, 31, is not her boyfriend, but claims, “We’re hanging out.”

Not so fast, says a Mayer pal.

“They’re no longer in contact,” the pal tells me. “She’s been exaggerating her interactions with him.”

Police in Los Angeles have agreed to return jewellery taken as evidence on the night singer Rihanna was allegedly attacked by boyfriend Chris Brown.

Rihanna’s lawyer said police had agreed to photograph the items and return them to the designers who had lent them to the 21-year-old star.

The jewellery had been held since the attack, which allegedly took place in Brown’s car before this year’s Grammys.

Mr Brown, 19, has pleaded not guilty to two charges of assault.

The R&B singer is also charged with making criminal threats. A preliminary hearing is expected next month.

Rihanna is to get her million dollar jewellery back.

The jewellery - earrings and three rings - had been held by police since the attack and logged as evidence, Rihanna’s attorney Donald Etra said on Wednesday.

He said Rihanna “felt bad” about being unable to return the items, worth an estimated $1.4m (£1m).

Probation

Mr Brown, 19, was arrested after rowing with Rihanna in a parked car in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles.

The alleged incident reportedly left the Barbados-born star with facial injuries that forced her to cancel a scheduled performance at the Grammys later that day.

If convicted, the possible sentence for Mr Brown could range from probation to more than four years in prison.

“The hope is that the parties can resolve the matter without the necessity for a preliminary hearing or trial,” said Rihanna’s attorney Donald Etra.

“But apparently, it looks like we’re on track for a preliminary hearing.”

Neither Rihanna or Mr Brown were in court on Wednesday when the agreement regarding the jewellery was reached.
